Driving and Maintenance Tips for HOWO Dump Trucks
- Lubricant Levels:
- Regularly check and maintain the lubricant levels in both the wheel reducer and the main bridge reducer. Insufficient lubrication can lead to early wear and severe damage to moving parts. Conversely, excessive oil can cause overheating and oil leaks.
- During the initial maintenance of a new truck, ensure that oil is filled to the high level before sealing the oil plug. Rotate the wheels to help distribute the oil evenly, then allow excess oil to drain until it reaches the appropriate level.
- Rear Axle Maintenance:
- The rear axle housing includes two screw plugs: an oil drain plug at the bottom and a fill plug on the side. The normal oil level should be maintained at the height of the fill plug.
- Recommended lubricating oil: API GL-5 grade, SAE 85W/90 viscosity. Fill amounts are approximately 16.5 liters for the main reducer, 19.7 liters for the axle reducer, and about 3 liters for each wheel reducer.
- Using the Differential Lock:
- The inter-wheel differential lock allows for automatic differentiation between left and right wheels during turns, reducing tire wear and mechanical strain. In slippery conditions, engage the differential lock to allow both axles to function as a rigid coupling, helping the truck regain traction.
- Important: Release the differential lock immediately after exiting slippery conditions to prevent severe tire wear and damage to the differential.
- Avoid Overloading:
- The HOWO rear drive axle is designed for a maximum capacity of 13 tons, with a typical wall thickness of 16 mm. Overloading can cause significant deformation and damage. Always adhere to specified load limits based on driving conditions.
- Differential Assembly:
- When reassembling components like the differential and driven gear during maintenance, apply Loctite thread locker to the coupling threads and tighten to the specified torque. If unusual noises occur during operation, stop immediately and conduct repairs.
