When a truck is delivered to the user, it typically has a running-in mileage of about 2,000 kilometers, akin to a tractor being transported from the factory to a dealer. By this stage, the running-in period is nearly complete. However, it’s crucial to handle the truck—and its parts—with care even after this initial mileage.
Average Break-In Mileage
The average break-in distance for trucks is between 1,500 to 3,000 kilometers. During this period, it’s essential to monitor all moving parts, with particular emphasis on the following components:
- Engine
- Gearbox
- Rear Axle
Key Guidelines During the Running-In Period
- Gentle Handling: Operate all controls smoothly.
- Accelerator Caution: Avoid pressing the accelerator to the floor.
- Gear Variety: Don’t stay in the same gear for extended periods.
- Smooth Braking: Sudden braking should be avoided.
- Load Management: Keep the load between 60% to 70% of the truck’s standard capacity to prevent overload.
Battery and Switch Care
Before starting the engine, always check if the main battery switch is engaged. This practice protects the battery and prevents unnecessary engine starts.
- If the vehicle will be parked for a long time or during electrical maintenance, turn off the main battery switch.
- Never disconnect the main switch while the engine is running.
- Avoid releasing or removing battery terminals while the engine is operating.
Power Management
- Press the Switch: To connect power, turn the handle counterclockwise to the horizontal position on the outside of the battery box.
- Disconnect Switch: To disconnect power, turn the handle clockwise to the vertical position.
Key Operation
- Key Position: Do not turn off the key switch while driving; always set it to position “II”.
- Removing the Key: Before leaving the vehicle, even briefly, ensure the key is removed.
When set to position “II”, the related lights will illuminate in sequence: position light, brake light, reverse light, rear fog light, work light, front fog light, and low beam. The instrument indicator lights will also activate one by one, with the pointers swinging between 0 and MAX. The display will cycle through “drive display”, “input information display”, and “output information display”.
If a system failure occurs, the related error will flash on the information display, allowing for further inspection.
Engine Ignition Procedure
- Clutch: Depress the clutch fully.
- Turning the Key: Turn the key to position “III” to start the engine.
- Release the Key: Stop turning the key immediately after the engine starts.
Note: Do not exceed 15 seconds when turning the key. If the engine does not start after a few seconds, investigate the cause.
After the check/warning functions complete, the indicator lights will turn off. Do not start the vehicle until the “STOP” fault display on the driver display disappears.
Pressure Requirements
Start the vehicle only when the system pressure reaches 0.55 MPa (5.5 bar) or more. Ensure the warning light goes off and the alarm buzzer stops sounding, with the air pressure reaching 0.7 MPa (7 bar).
